The Brain Care Centre aims to be the single point of entry for adults accessing community-based brain injury resources. Brain Care Centre offers comprehensive and long-term services that are accessible for a life time as need dictates. The following are some Edmonton and area brain injury specific community resources that we coordinate services with. There are many, many more resources not listed here that we partner with on a regular basis — they however are not specific to brain injury.
Networks provides a safe, supportive environment for adults with brain injury. They promote an active lifestyle through opportunities for social interaction, physical activity, and community involvement.
Networks goal is to enhance the quality of life for those with brain injury through recreation, social, and community involvement.
Supports for Community Living (SCL) - Entry into this program for the Edmonton region is through a Brain Care Centre Service Coordinator
SCL provides one-on-one support in the client’s home or community to meet clients’ goals, build independence, and increase community participation.
SCL staff may assist the survivor in the following areas:
-problem solving/self-advocacy
-health practices
-build personal support network
-community participation
-daily living skills

Community Enrichment is a program situated at Excel Academy just north of downtown Edmonton. It is a program designed to increase the independence of adults who have a physical disability or brain injury. We believe that every person has the right to make independent choices and decisions and to take risks.
Community Enrichment provides students with the tools for the physical, emotional, social and financial skills necessary to lead to more independent, fulfilling and rewarding lives. This may include the skills to succeed in daily life, or those for employment or volunteer work.
The Steadward Centre for Personal and Physical Achievement is a disability research centre at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada that provides physical activity and sport programs for people with disabilities.
CapitalCare is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alberta Health Services.
CapitalCare provides many of the home/community based health services that brain injury survivors receive after being discharged from hospital care (i.e., home care).
