Concussions Statement
Brain Care Position Statement on Concussions
Dec 8, 2011
The Brain Care Centre (BCC) in Edmonton Alberta Canada acknowledges the growing body of evidence in the written, visual and commentary media outlining the significance of concussions. The evidence that has surfaced in the last year is overwhelming and should force all sports, sport governing bodies and sport equipment designers to take the incidence and consequences of concussion seriously. These groups need to analyze their circle of influence and seek strategies to decrease the numbers of persons acquiring mild to moderate traumatic brain injury. The BCC promotes prevention of these injuries and encourages all coaches, parents and healthcare providers to be more cognizant of the signs and symptoms of concussions and to refer persons with suspected concussions appropriately when recognized.
