Sports concussions can be very serious yet they are often missed and undiagnosed. Post-concussive syndrome can effect people for years. Louis De Beaumont’s team at the Centre for Neuropsychology and Cognition, Universite de Montreal ”found the first evidence that athletes who suffer concussions show mental and physical declines more than 30 years later.” Concussion; “the effects far outlast the initial dizziness, disorientation and confusion.”

Centre for Neuropsychology and Cognition, Universite de Montreal

A researcher into the effects of concussion on athletes, Louis de Beaumont has been interested since he himself suffered one at the age of 16 as an elite hockey player. As part of a research team, Louis has looked at in-game fatigue in National Hockey League players and the long term consequences of concussion on football players. His latest study results made the cover of the National Post and were published in the journal, Brain. Louis believes that we all need to be more aware of CONCUSSION!
